Learning Objectives
• Interpret our current understanding of the pathophysiology of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis and the progress being made in treating the disease.
• Update contemporary treatment of the trigeminal neuralgia to survey the medication options presently available.
• Describe the major therapeutic advance of the gamma knife treatment of this disease. Data regarding the clinical trial will be provided and explained to establish our best available treatment options.
• Discuss the progress in the understanding of the basic science and clinical aspects of Parkinson’s Disease (PD); emphasis will be on current local and international clinical trials involving PD that will likely lead to new therapies in the next few years.
• Translate the newest classification of the peripheral neuropathic disorders, understand their pathophysiology, and explore the appropriate management options for the more common entities.
• Review the appropriate ways to maximize billing and financial return in a neurologist’s office will be considered. Perspectives on approaches to and methodology in a busy practitioner’s office will be considered.
• Discussions of Neurocardiology, including those conditions which involve diseases of the brain and cardiac function, such as sudden death syndromes and stroke, will be explored and updated for the busy clinician as well as therapies of some of these disorders
